We act on behalf of shipowners and shipbuilders worldwide, participating directly in negotiations between the contractual parties and advising on all legal, technical and commercial aspects of shipbuilding contracts relating to all categories of vessels, from tugboats and workboats to highly specialised LNG and offshore units.
We provide a comprehensive range of services throughout the preparation, negotiation and execution of shipbuilding documentation, during the entire construction period and up to final delivery. This includes the drafting and negotiation of shipbuilding contracts, performance bonds, refund guarantees, assignments of insurances, assignments of earnings and all ancillary delivery documentation, including builders’ certificates, protocols of delivery and acceptance and class documentation.
Where a ship repair yard is involved, we provide full documentary and legal support in connection with claims arising out of repairs, conversions, retrofitting and lengthening of vessels.
Where required by owners, we advise on and document pre-delivery and long-term ship finance structures and prepare the relevant assignments, securities and construction ship mortgages fully effective and enforceable under Spanish law.
